NEUROSURGERY ON THE BASIS OF THE LATEST SCIENTIFIC FINDINGS

Our treatment methods are based on the more than 40 years of experience of Prof. Hanno Millesi, who has brought together all his clinical and scientific expertise into a highly progressive, comprehensive treatment concept. We continuously develop this treatment concept further in accordance with the latest scientific findings.

Prof. Hanno Millesi

Professor Millesi was one of the first surgeons to use microvascular methods in plastic surgery. As early as 1974, he introduced a reimplantation service that was the first of its kind in Europe. In 1989 he founded the Austrian Society for Hand Surgery. Operation techniques that he developed in the field of nerve transplantation and of microsurgery set entirely new standards that have been used internationally and have made him an unforgettable pioneer in plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Peripheral neurosurgery was revolutionised by Prof. Millesi, including through interfascicular nerve transplantation and microsurgical neurolysis. Both practically and surgically, as well as scientifically, he has focussed throughout his professional life on surgery of the peripheral nerves and on connective tissue research, not only in the context of Dupuytren's disease. The majority of his publications are on the subject of surgery of the peripheral nerves
and the treatment of brachial plexus injuries and in more recent
years also the sacral plexus. He has outlined his experience with interfascicular nerve transplantation, as well as his extensive knowledge of the surgical management of brachial plexus injuries, in many presentations around the world. Professor Millesi has authored over 150 scientific publications and furthermore important major works in a book format that are considered as standard works of medical literature.
